How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign utilises a series of clear plastic aligners that adjust as your teeth do, applying gentle pressure on teeth until they have moved into the desired position.
Invisalign aligners
Invisalign aligners are made of a specialised plastic that are specifically created to fit your individual teeth. Throughout your teeth straightening treatment, you will receive a series of new aligners every fortnight that are a slightly different shape. The new aligners apply a gentle pressure until teeth move into their new position.
Although the aligners are removable, it is recommended for optimum results that you wear your aligners for 20-22 hours each day.
The Invisalign treatment process
The Dental Studio will happily guide you through the entire Invisalign treatment process from your first assessment through to your perfect smile. Your Invisalign treatment process will follow these four steps:
Step one: Initial Assessment
To find out if Invisalign is the right treatment, each patient must come into The Dental Studio for an initial assessment. Here we can discuss all of your options, answer any questions you may have, and assess your teeth and mouth.
Step two: Moulds
Once both you and your dentist have decided that Invisalign is your best option, a mould will be taken of your teeth. The team at The Dental Studio will take a mould of your top and bottom teeth. This will then be sent away to the Invisalign lab where your custom-made aligners will be created.
Step three: Aligners
When your individually crafted aligners come back from the lab, the team at The Dental Studio will be able to talk you through the wearing process and how to maintain them. You can then pop in your new aligner and start your teeth straightening process.
Step four: Follow up
Every 4-8 weeks you will come back to The Dental Studio to have your new aligners fitted and to check your progress. These regular appointments are the perfect time to discuss any concerns about your treatment or any further questions you may have. This will continue until the end of your treatment when you have achieved your perfect smile.
